Sparsam Expatriate Retirement Plan (SERP)

Due to the new system of pensions launched in Sweden, greater demands are being placed on supplementary pension savings. By means of our pension scheme you can guarantee your employees maximum security.

 

Local regulations

According to Swedish collective wage agreements the employer finances a retirement pension plan on a regular basis for the employees. The retirement pension plans require that the employee has a Swedish civic registration number which is only given to Swedish citizens. But what if the employee is an international expatriate working in Sweden? For those individuals SERP is used, a retirement plan that offers the same pension savings benefits as the national Swedish agreements.

 

Maximum security

SERP offers the company’s employees security when it is time to retire and the savings lay the basis for the retirement pension. SERP also provides extra protection. It includes a built-in death benefit which will pay 101 % of the value of the pension to the family, in case the employee does not survive to retirement age. The premiums paid to SERP are, according to Swedish law, deductible for the company. In addition, the company may choose between instructing the insurance company to invest the premium, or let the employee choose the type of investment that best suits him/her.

Information as soon as anything changes

We provide employees with continuous information by sending out a yearly pension statement. The company must notify us of any changes relating to salaries or other factors that affect the insurance. This means we can calculate the right premium for each employee.

Insurance options

The company decides how the premium involved should be spread over the following insurance elements:

  • Savings – lay the basis for the retirement pension
  • Built-in death benefit – 101% of the value of your pension should the Employee not survive to retirement age
  • Health insurance – covers salary reduction due to illness
  • Family cover – additional life cover as a financial security for the family
  • Waiver of premium – the insurance company pays the premium in the event of a long term illness

In addition, the company may choose between instructing the insurance company to invest the premium, or let the employee choose the type of investment that best suits him/her.
